It is with great excitement that we wish to congratulate and share with you the 12 category winners of the 2021 Silver Lining Awards (SLAs). The categories are grouped into Creative and Classic divisions and received over 2300 entries in total. A $60,000 prize pool, made possible by generous AIPP sponsors and Trade Partners, was awarded to those placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category.
In its second year, the Silver Lining Awards are AIPP’s online, digital competition and this year the comp was opened to the general public. 300 Semi-Finalist images were chosen, representing the Top 25 in each category. Another round saw 120 Finalists emerge from the competition as the “cream of the crop” and tonight 36 place-getters were announced via a live broadcast on our Facebook page by AIPP Awards Committee Chair, Gary Cranitch.
Alongside the crowd favourites of Portrait and Places, nine new categories featured in this year’s competition, inspiring high levels of creativity and imagination in the received entries. In the Stories category entrants were asked to tell a story across a series of between two and six images. In the Smartphone category submissions had be wholly shot and edited on smartphones. And the Shades of Grey category proved an entrant-favourite with many monochrome images impressing the judges.
The 36 place-getters featured entrants from all Australian states and territories except the NT, as well as an entrant from England, UK as the competition was open to international entrants. Accredited, Student and General AIPP members featured, as well as non-members who were welcomed to the competition for the first time.
